Gegründet wurde Kagerou 1999 vom Sänger Daisuke (ex.Fatima) und Bassist Masaya (ex.AngelDust). Nachdem auch noch Yuana im Oktober der Band beitrat, begannen sie ihre Aktivitäten offiziell im Dezember des selben Jahres.

Für Daisuke wohl eine neue Herausforderung, denn obwohl er schon vorher in Bands gespielt hatte, besetzte er damals jedoch die Position des Drummers. Wie jede andere Visual Kei Band fingen sie an, Demotapes zu verteilen.

Die erste [ biological slicer ] beinhaltete nur einen Song: [ biyou seikei ishi no shumi ]. Erst im Mai 2000 trat Shizumi als Drummer der Band bei.

Zu dem Zeitpunkt hatten sie bereits zwei Demotapes und eine Single [ biological slicer ] veröffentlicht.

Doch schon nachdem sie durch ihre Veröffentlichung auf der omnibus [ kakumei ~Voice of rebirth~ ] Aufmerksamkeit erlangten, verliess Masaya nach einem oneman live am 11. Oktober 2000 in der Meguro Live Station die Band und sie waren gezwungen, ihre Aktivitäten vorübergehend einzustellen. Erst im Januar fand sich in Kuya ein neuer Bassist. Kagerou waren zurück.

Nach einem weiteren Release auf einer omnibus CD und ihrer zweiten Maxisingle [ hakkyou sakadachi onanist ], welche als erste CD von Kagerou eine zweite Auflage hatte, hatten sie ihr erstes Live mit Kuya als neuen Bassisten am 13. April im On Air West. Am selben Tag eröffnete der offizielle Fanclub [ tsuushin kouza ]. Zwei Monate später folgt die dritte Maxisingle [ jikasei full-course ], doch schon im August kommt mit dem Verlassen Kuyas ein weiterer Rückschlag für die Band.

Doch der Willen der Band ist stark: Kuya wird durch Kazu ersetzt... womit die heutige Bandbesetzung ihren Punkt erreicht hat!

Im Januar 2002, über zwei Jahre und zwei Bassisten später, stand die 4. Maxisingle [ iromegane to scandal ] in den Läden. Der große Erfolg dieser Single ist nicht zuletzt dem ersten Track [ yuugure no shazai ] zu verdanken (neben [ yami ni warau kuro ] mein absoluter Favourit).

Nur wenig später gaben sie allerdings durch das Double-Release von [ hiaburi no kazoeuta ] und [ mizubitashi no kazoeuta ] den Fans anscheinend einen argen Kritikpunkt. Ich denke nicht, dass ihnen die Songs nicht gefallen haben, aber es schien nicht das gewesen zu sein, was sie nach der 4. Single erwartet hatten und der horende Preis von 3.000 Yen (für max. 4 Songs) wurde von den Fans mit Enttäuschung aufgenommen.

Das erste VHS/DVD Release stand an: [ kagerou no video clip ]. Einfacher Titel, aber im Grunde gerechtfertigt, denn es beinhaltete die PVs zu [ yuugure no shazai ], [ yubikiri ], [ idol kurui no shinrigaku ] und [ gozen sanji no taiyou kousen ].

Im Juli erscheint ihr Debut Album [ kagerou ]. Eine sehr gute Platte, insgesamt 11 Tracks, die zeigt, dass Kagerou noch nicht am Ende sind und dass in dieser Band noch weitmehr Potenzial steckt, welches uns durch [ XII Dizzy ] Ende Januar 2004 bewiesen wurde. Diese Single sollte einen guten Vorgeschmack auf das im August 2004 erschienene 2. Album [ rakushu ] geben.

Und nun werden auch durch die Free Will Erweiterung nach Europa europäische Fans in den Genuss einer Live Performance kommen (ich war schon beeindruckt durch die Live-DVD [ zekkyo psychopath ]; erschien zeitgleich mit der [ XII dizzy ] Single). Kagerou werdem am 11. Februar in München und am 12. Februar 2005 in Paris ihre erste Europa Tour [ rakushu enjyo european tour ] bestreiten. Außerdem hatten sie 2005 Auftritte auf den beiden deutschen Festivals "Rock im Park" und "Rock am Ring". Die "Kagerou x D'espairs Ray COUPLING TOUR 2005 ~ryuugai no kannou~" führt sie unter anderem wieder nach München, diesmal zusammen mit D'espairs Ray.
