Maian is usually a calm and sweet person, but she is very moody and also very passiona­te. Being loved by her is wonderful, being hated by her isn't. Maian wishes for peace and understanding and is always very upset if people near her disagree or worse – quarrel.
Maian is the only child of the heron-woman Sybille and the younger daughter of Senator Tiloki, Duke of Idras. Being unable to keep her daughter, Sybille left the newborn child on her father's doorstep, along with a letter explaining her reasons and asking Maian's for­giveness. Tiloki, knowing that Maian's true nature could easily get her killed, made the only people who knew speak a vow of silence. He kept Maian carefully hidden from strangers, as to conceal the fact that she grew wings and aged slowly, until she stopped aging at the age of 16.
Despite the fact that Maian was actually a bastard child, her father accepted her as his right- and lawful daughter, making her an equal to her half-sister and heiress to both his title and belongings.
Maian was raised by her father and sister, with help from the housekeeper and his wife. She was educated like all daughters and sons of the mighty begnion families.
Maian very soon understood that she was different, what with being able to do things others could not do, like flying and sensing emotions and thoughts.

Liane is the firstborn daughter of Senator Tiloki. Her mother, Duchess Catherine, died when Liane was only 10 years old. Two years later, their houskeeper, Mrs. Miller, found a basket containing Maian. Her father accepted the child as his own and explained to Liane that it was very important to protect Maian.
Both Liane and Mrs. Hill tried to replace Maian's mother as good as possible. Liane quickly grew fond of her sister and tried everything to make her happy. She would often persuade her father on her sister's behalf to let her go out into the city.
Even though Maian is now almost a grown-up woman, Liane is still worrying about her as soon as she is out of sight.
Liane is a very caring and doting older sister. She lost her mother at the age of 10, and the arrival of baby Maian brought her great joy. Liane is very concerned for her sister's well-being and constantly worries that something might happen to her.

Despite her youth, Sanaki is a strong-willed and proud person. She tries her best to be a just ruler and works tirelessly against the corrupt senators.

Ike is the firstborn child of Elena and Greil. He hardly remembers his childhood in Gallia and has no memories of his mother's early death. At the age of 17, Ike was accepted as a full member of the mercenaries. And only a few days later the adventure of his life began, when he found an unconscious young woman who turned out to be the crimean princess...
Ike is a very blunt person. He tells everyone exactly what he thinks, regardless if it's the Empress of Begnion or the mighty Black Dragon King. Ike doesn't care about blood or race, or titles. He has a good heart and a strong sense of righteousness.

As a member of the Crimean Royal Knights she participated in an attempt to tighten the newly forged bonds of the alliance between Gallia and Crimea. Never before had a laguz nation signed a treaty with a beorc nation.
In Gallia, everything was new. Titania was surprised to see beorc at the king's court. One of them was exceptionally strong and Titania found out that his name was Greil. Although Titania was one of the strongest knights of Crimea, Greil defeated her easily. Impressed by his strength and yet kind nature, Titania fell in love with him. But before she had a chance to confess her feelings, she learned that Greil was already happily married and father of two children. Not wishing to destroy their happiness, Titania remained silent and eventually returned to Crimea.
Many years later, their paths crossed again. Greil and his children had moved to Crimea and Titania was shocked to hear that Elena had died in a tragic accident.
Greil told her of his plans to form a mercenary group and Titania offered her help. Because of her skill and experience, she quickly became Greil's right hand.
Titania knew that Greil's grief was too strong and therefore never considered revealing the feelings she still had for him. Instead, she tried her best to be a mother to his children – which was not an easy task for the knight. With her and Mist being the only "girls" in the group, the two of them quickly grew attached to each other.
Titania is an earnest woman and absolutely loyal to Greil and later his children. Since she had been in love with Greil, she tried her best to take good care of his children. Titania may sometimes seem cold and hard, but occasionally, her more female side shows itself.

Soren never knew his parents. He was raised by an old woman in Gallia. The woman considered him a burden and always abused Soren verbally. Soren had no idea why she hated him so much.
One day a wandering sage passed by and mistook Soren for a Spirit Charmer. He offered the lady to take him in. She was delighted to be rid of Soren, she would have even given him away without accepting the sage's money.
The sage knew he would die soon and he just wanted to pass his knowledge on. He too never cared much for Soren. He just put him through hard magical training. When the sage died, Soren had no idea what to do. He stayed in the hut until he had eaten all the food, then he took all the valuables and left.
During his journey to nowhere, Soren often encountered the beast warriors of Gallia. He was terrified of them, but he quickly realised they had no intentions of harming him. They would just growl at him and then turn away, as if he didn't exist. Soren thought that this was worse than open hatred. He was used to that, after all.
Finally, he reached a small settlement. If he had thought the beorc would treat him better, he was disappointed. They chased him away from their houses, throwing stones at him. And Soren was unable to speak, so he couldn't explain that he just wanted some food, no matter what kind of food it was.
He collapsed under a tree near the village, exhausted with hunger. When he regained consciousness, he found someone sitting next to him. A small boy with blue eyes and blue hair. Soren shrank back, but the boy only smiled. Seeing how thin Soren was, he offered him some food. Soren thought at first that it was a trick, but the boy thrust the food into his hand and encouraged him to eat it. Soren was so hungry, he devoured the food as quickly as possible. The boy watched him, smiling.
After Soren had saturated his hunger, the boy promised to be back the following morning at the same place.
At first, Soren didn't trust the boy would keep his word, but in the end he returned to that tree. But like he had anticipated, the youth didn't return. But Soren noticed something else. An eerie silence that was covering the village. He set out and saw to his surprise that the village was strewn with corpses. Soren searched them, but he couldn't find the boy. So he figured he had to be still alive.
Since most villagers were dead, Soren took their food and money with him and set out to look for the only person who had ever been kind to him.
Eventually, he ended up in Crimea. When he went to an abbey to look if there were any hints there, the priests noticed the mark on his forehead. Like the sage, they thought him to be a Spirit Charmer. And when Soren demonstrated his powers, they took him in to teach him.
Soren finally was treated like a living being. He learned to speak and to read and write, also in the Ancient Tongue, which is used for spells. When the priests told him his training was completed, Soren set out again.
When he finally found the one he had been loo­king for, he had to realize that the boy didn't reco­gnize him. At fist, Soren thought this to be a lie, but the boy's father explained that his son had no memories of one day – the day his mother had died.
The boy – Ike – asked his father to take Soren in and Greil agreed. Although Ike couldn't remember their last meeting, they became friends.
Soren is so cold that some people wonder if there is even blood flowing in his veines. From his early childhood on he was confronted with dislike and hatred. He built a protecti­ve wall around himself as not to get hurt again. Soren has no friends, he doesn't want any. He doesn't care about others, but prefers to be left alone. He is also a very rude person, who doesn't care about what others think of him.

After her father's death, she insisted on joining the mercenaries, along with Rolf.
Mist is the heart of the company. She does the cooking, sewing and other housework. Always cheerful, she is liked by all. Mist is also a very brave person who wishes to always stay with the ones she loves.

Elincia was born only after her uncle had been proclaimed the heir to the throne of Crimea. To avoid national unrest, the princess' birth and her very existence were kept a secret.
Elincia grew up in the Royal Villa along with Lady Lucia of Delbray, who was her age. Their bond is said to be stronger that that of many blood sisters.
Elincia's upbringing was very different from that of other ladies. Not only did she learn how to ride a pegasus and wield a sword, but she also cooked and cleaned the villa.
Elincia always felt that her uncle understood her best of all people and grew very attached to him. As she grew older, she developed feelings for Lucia's younger brother Geoffrey, who was a member of the Crimean Royal Knights led by her uncle.
Elincia is a cheerful and somewhat naive young girl who is all of a sudden forced to flee her home. Thrown into a hostile world, she has no idea what to do. However, she gradually grows stronger with the tasks getting harder, until she becomes a resolute and proud queen.

Almedha is obsessed with her son, Pelleas. She is a very caring and doting mother and hates to be separated from her son, if only for a short while.

Almedha is King Deghinsea's second child and only daughter. Because she didn't agree with her father's way of seeing things, she left Goldoa and went to Daein, where she met Prince Ashnard. It wasn't exactly love, rather a very strong mutual attraction. Ashnard, despite the fact that he hated laguz, was intrigued by the thought of having a dragon as a companion. When the plague wiped out his entire family, Ashnard became King of Daein. Shortly after that, Almedha gave birth to their son.
However, she quickly realised that she had lost her powers. Ashnard now considered her a burden and became obsessed with his son. But when he discovered that the child had no special powers, he used him in a cruel trap for Almedha's brother Rajaion. Almedha was unable to prevent it from happening, and then her son was taken from her...
Almedha and Ashnard had a falling out and she left court. Almost mad with grief, she searched everywhere for her lost son, unable to find him...

Pelleas grew up in an orphanage in the slums of Daein's capital, Nevassa, without knowing he was a prince. Izuka, a servant of Ashnard, found him and reunited him with his mother. After that, Pelleas tried to rally an army to liberate Daein.
Pelleas is a very caring person, with a strong desire to liberate Daein form the Begnion Occupation Forces, but he is easily fooled and manipulated. He is everything but a strong leader, therefore it is not surprising that many people prefer Micaiah to him.

Micaiah was raised by an old woman in the slums of Nevassa. The lady was unable to tell her who her parents were – or what they were. Before the old lady died, she told Micaiah what the Brand meant and to always be on her guard.
After that, Micaiah made her living as a fortune-teller, until she met a small, skinny boy in the back alleys of Nevassa. He followed her around for some days, always staring at her out of piercing, hard brown eyes. One day, Micaiah held out her hand and the boy hesi­tantly took it. He didn't let go after that.
Micaiah and Sothe traveled all over Tellius together, but Micaiah knew it wouldn't last. While Sothe changed and grew, Micaiah remained the same. When she felt she had stayed with him as long as possible, Micaiah left him behind in Crimea and went to Begnion. But when the war between Crimea and Daein broke out, she went looking for him, worrying about his safety.
After the war, she helped the people of Nevassa to rebuild their hometown. And there, in the back alleys of Nevassa, she met Sothe again. When she confessed the reason for leaving him, Sothe was furious. He vowed to protect Micaiah, no matter what. After that, she never again thought of leaving him.
Micaiah is a very kind-hearted person who dislikes fighting. But being unable to watch the empire's tyranny anymore, Micaiah fights for the people of Daein.

Unfortunately, there are no concept arts of Micaiah's second and third outfit, so I had to use what I got. I like this fanart, and you get at least a glimpes of how cool her new outfit is.

Sothe was born in Nevassa. He never really knew his parents, very soon he found himself on the streets, struggling to stay alive. He made a living as a pickpocket and thief, until he met Micaiah. Having an income (even if it was a small one), Micaiah was able to provide him with a place to live. However, Sothe regularly practised his picking skills.
When Micaiah left him, Sothe went looking for her. But instead of finding her, he ran into the Greil Mercenaries. Ike took Sothe along, under the condition that Sothe helped them.
His time with Ike changed Sothe. Like most people of Daein, he had harboured a strong hatred against laguz. Now he could see for himself that all the stories the people of Daein told each other were wrong or exaggerated. When Sothe returned home after the war, he had lost his prejudices against the laguz.
Upon meeting Micaiah again, she told him her reason for leaving him. Before the war, Sothe might have been appalled by the fact that she was a Hybrid, but he had now learned not to judge people by race or blood. And he knew Micaiah was a good person.
Together, they founded the Dawn Brigade to fight the Begnion Occupation Army. The other members were: the axe-fighter Nolan, the archer Leonardo and the myrmidon Edward. They broke into the houses of the rich and spread money and food among the poor.
Sothe is silent and prefers to watch others. He hardly ever shows his emotions. He is a very loyal and reliable friend, but in battle he fights like a devil.

"I'll protect you, Micaiah."

"I don't care if you're the king or not. Threaten Micaiah again and I'll kill you."

Almedha

Deghinsea was one of the three heroes who defeated the Dark God, the others were the beorc woman Altina and Soan, the White Lion. After the war ended, Deghinsea settled down with his wife and founded the kingdom of Goldoa. Altina founded a kingdom that later became the Begnion Empire and Soan was the first king of Gallia.
Deghinsea wanted to make the awakening of the Dark God impossible and therefore followed a policy of strict neutrality, never interfering with other nations. For more than 700 years, Goldoa remained secluded and shrouded in mystery...
Deghinsea is an extremely stubborn person. He is not cruel or heartless, but he has a ha­bit of making the wrong decisions or decisions that cause tragedies. He appears to care little for his fellow living beings, all he is interested in is the future.

"Goldoa will not move, for the sake of future generations!"

Kurthnaga is not only the youngest child of Deghinsea, but also the youngest in all of Goldoa. He has never before left his homeland or met any beorc. Unlike his father, he is willing to interfere with people from outside. Only after a century has passed, Kurth meets beorc for the first time.
Kurthnaga is a very gentle person. Despite his age and his enormous size when transfor­med, Kurthnaga is scared of battles, and he is a hemophobe. He is very caring.

Caineghis was the first laguz ruler who considered forming an alliance with a beorc ruler. Gallia has no diplomatic connections to its other neighbours, Goldoa and Begnion, due to the mountains. But Crimea was easy to access.
King Ramon, who was a pioneer in that way, readily agreed to an alliance, hoping that Gal­lia would be of any help should Daein become aggressive.
Some beorc moved into Gallia, among them a young couple – Greil and Elena. Caineghis quickly came to like them, but he realised they were keeping a dark secret. They were per­secuted, but Greil refused to tell by whom or where they had come from. Caineghis tried all he could to protect them, but he was unable to prevent Elena's death.
Greil and his children left Gallia, and it was not until Daein had invaded Crimea that Cai­neghis saw them again – the children, but not their father.
Caineghis is a calm person who never makes hasty decisions. Despite his fierce appea­rance, he has a kind heart and cares deeply for his fellow creatures.

Ranulf is a nice guy who loves to make jokes. He is very fond of Ike and his friends and a very open-minded person. And he is one of the more reasonable laguz. He takes his duties seriously and always does his best to make their battles victorious.

Rafiel is what you can call a typical heron. Calm, gentle and an oasis of tranquility. He is always very graceful and chooses his words carefully. He dislikes being a burden to others and is ready to apologize for things he is not responsible for.

Shortly before the Serenes Massacre, Rafiel was captured by slave traders who sold him at an auction in Sienne. He was purchased by Senator Hetzel, the Duke of Asmin. Shortly after that, Rafiel fell deathly ill, mostly from despair. Hetzel, deeply moved by his plight, nursed him back to heath and promised to let him return to his forest.
But then the massacre occured and Rafiel's clan was annihilated. Although Hetzel never told him, Rafiel could see in his mind who had been responsible for this.
The next thing Rafiel knew was that he was in a desert. If Queen Nailah hadn't found him, he would have died. He spent the last 23 years in the queen's care in Hatary.

Like his brother, Reyson appears graceful and delicate, but he has an iron will and is very stubborn. He greatly admires Tibarn and wishes to be just like him.
During the Serenes Massacre, Reyson and his father Lorazieh were rescued by Tibarn, King of Phoenecis. Both of them spent the next 20 years under the protection of the hawk king, but Lorazieh has been asleep the entire time.
This tragic experience caused Reyson to hate all beorc, no matter where they come from and if they had anything to do with the massacre.

Tibarn cares little about formalities or small talk, he prefers to state things as they are. Like Reyson, he hates all beorc for murdering their brothers. And he can't stand traitors.

Yune turns out to be the being sealed away inside the medallion. However, she is far from being the malicious dark god anyone expected. Her character is child-like, and she gets offended very easily. Being the Goddess of Chaos, she is very unstable. She is the manifestation of Ashunera's discarded emotions. Unable to control herself, she caused the Ancient War and was defeated by Ashera's followers. Ashera wanted to erase Yune completely, but was disuaded by Lehran.
